Every year 38,000 scoliosis patients undergo spinal fusion surgery. If left untreated, moderate to severe scoliosis diagnoses can lead to increasing deformity and potential heart and lung damage. Treating scoliosis relies on a number of medical devices, drugs, and therapies, which all need to be delivered timely, effectively, and most importantly, safely.
Niva, an 11-year old scoliosis patient relies on sound quality control from the medical and pharmaceutical industries for her ongoing treatment. Patients like Niva expect their medications to be safe and effective. Niva’s remarkable story is a testament to the incredible work being done in the medical and pharmaceutical industries, and an inspiration for children currently coping with and battling their own diagnoses.
Charles River is proud to partner with National Scoliosis Foundation. Their mission is to promote the growing need for education, early detection, and awareness to the public about scoliosis and its prevalence within the community.
We’ll be fundraising for the National Scoliosis Foundation to continue to increase the visibility and awareness of scoliosis. For every social media share of Niva’s story, we will be donating $1 on behalf of Niva, up to $10,000, in support of scoliosis awareness to the National Scoliosis Foundation. Please visit Charles River’s Facebook, LinkedIn, or Twitter pages and share with your network.
